SENIOR HUNTER!!!

Kipper New SH
Wahoo!! Kipper finished his Senior Hunter title this weekend! He was handled to this final leg by me (Missy) which makes it extra special for me. Needless to say we are thrilled with this accomplishment!!!

Holiday Pond

Our 2006 Christmas tree is a 9 foot deodar cedar which we will plant in the back yard after the holidays. During the day it is a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. At night, and we are biased, the lights reflecting off the pond are beautiful.

5 Week Update

We're over halfway there! Birdee is being her bing-bang self, dashing about the yard and house and gobbling up everything we put in front of her. Here she is practicing a sit-stay. Birdee will do anything for chicken.

Happy Birthday, Dipper Doo

Today is Kipper's 3rd birthday! Our boy was very patient for his photo in the silly party hat. :-)

Pup-Date

Birdee is off her food/morning sickness right on schedule! Still showing no visible signs of pregnancy... too early.

Virginia Vacation

We had a few days of gorgeous weather to enjoy the wilderness of Virginia. Lance hunted, Kipper trailed deer and Birdee ran to her heart's content in the big field behind the hunt club. Then came the torrential rains, and we were cabin-bound the last couple of days. Fortunately it cleared for the drive home.

So Far So Good

We have had immediate & strong response from our questionnaire, and the list for a puppy is officially started! Needless to say we are beyond excited about this litter. Thank goodness for the holidays as distraction!! :)

Attention Prospective Puppy Buyers!

We have posted our questionnaire on the Litters page. If you are interested in a puppy from our Teak X Birdee litter, this is the first step towards making that happen.

Week 1 Weigh In

For what it's worth, Birdee weighed in at 49.0 when we got the health certificate on Monday, Oct 30 and week 1 post breeding weighs in at 51.6 ...

We are awaiting news any minute from the Hunting Tests in Georgia where Birdee's Uncle Jimmy Spears is running her friend Ava in her first Senior Hunter test.

And the rest is history ...

We have gotten our breedings of Birdee and Teak and are flying back to Tennessee in the morning. I got some nice photos of this gorgeous boy today, you can see them on his page but here's one I can't resist but post:

Wine Country

We have had a great time in Northern California, took a trip to wine country and have sampled some wonderful regional wines. Here's a photo I took in Napa Valley, the mountains underneath heavy cloud cover and vineyard in foreground. Click for a larger view...
napa

Also have learned a lot more about Teak, his ancestors and his offspring. I've added some photos of offspring to Teak's page today... Take a peek!! [ CLICK FOR TEAK'S PAGE ]

No Cal

In the yard are orange trees, lime, lemon trees all heavily laden with fruit. The dogs run around with oranges as if they were tennis balls :) It rarely gets to freezing so lots of good growing opportunities here :) There is a HUGE eucalyptus tree in the back yard... built in air freshener. The view is stunning.

From California

Birdee and I made it to California. Teak is even more gorgeous in person than in his photos. :)

From The Hunting Tests

In less than ideal weather conditions, Kipper qualified for leg #4 today at Munfordville, KY. Skies have cleared and it is gorgeous, cold, great bird hunting weather for the Juniors and tommorrow's forecast is the same. :-)

At long last!

After what seems like an eternity but in reality is only a couple weeks late, Birdee has come in season. We are due in California on Halloween for the breeding! :-) This will put our puppies due right at the first of the year. Yay, Birdee Bing-Bang!!

Deer Hunting Duo

Our Kipper successfully trailed and located 2 deer this past week ... something we have worked hard to train him to do. One of the deer was located in the dark :) We're very proud of our boy! He needs 2 legs to complete his Senior Hunter title, and we'll be out this fall attempting to wrap that up.

The GSPCA National Field Trial is going on this week in Eureka, KS. For those of you who don't know, yours truly is the webmaster for GSPCA. Check the web site: [www.GSPCA.org] for updates and results as they occur.

Pretty cool story. Enjoy!

Birdee update Sat Oct 7

Well another week has come and gone and Birdee STILL hasn't come in season. We've heard of several other bitches who are late this autumn. Perhaps due to a hot summer? Who knows... all we can do is wait for her! :)

Birdee 2-Year Photos

Thanks to Auntie Wendi for helping with the 2 year photoshoot of our lovely Birdee. We've waited a long time for some nice shots of Birdee by our koi pond. :-) See the new photos [ HERE ]

Best In Show

We are delighted to congratulate Robin Remondi and SERA [Ch Robin Crest Silver Seraph, JH] on yet another All Breed BEST IN SHOW! Sunday, Oct 1, Burbank, CA, under Judge Mr. Erik Bergishagen. Sera beat some 1200 dogs that day. This is another in a long line of accomplishments for this fabulous bitch.

SERA is a full sibling to TEAK [Ch. Ersehnen Border Patrol] who will be siring our upcoming BIRDEE LITTER!!

See more of Sera and Teak's other relatives at Robin Crest Kennels Reg'd

Official OFA

Bird's health clearances are now all listed on the public OFA database, with the exception of her Cone Degeneration clearance which is via her sire/dam testing normal. You can view Birdee's OFA record [ HERE ]

Birdee's dam's CD clearance is being submitted to OFA which will complete her CHIC [Canine Health Information Center] requirements. There is a way to send the DNA info on sire/dam/get and acquire an OFA # for CD; so we plan to complete that process as soon as Gretta's clearance is posted to the database. The CD clearance will be Birdee's final requirement for CHIC. Read more about CHIC [ HERE ].

finding birds ;)

We spent the first half of the day yesterday and today working our dogs on birds. Kip is nearly 'tuned up' satisfactorily to attempt his final 2 legs at Senior Hunter. Our first hunting test of the season is Oct 28 & 29 in Kentucky.

Today we took the dogs down to Rick & Brenda's [Walnut Hill] and Kip did great. He's such a happy boy out there. It's a joy to watch. And a relief to see him behave himself. :-)

Happy Birthday :)

We just got word that Birdee has some brand new half siblings out in California!!! Frieda (Ch/UKC Ch. Winter Creek's A Spec Naughty, JH) whelped 11 puppies today. 6 girls & 5 boys. Sire is Birdee's dad, Bo. This litter was bred by Kevin & Lisa Gaede of Edelmarke GSPs.

Great News!

We just received email notification from OFA - Birdee Hips GOOD and Elbows NORMAL. This should be reflected on the OFA Database any day now.

Month's End

And still no progress on Birdee... She is running like a dog possessed in the cooler weather. They all are! Very delighted that Autumn has arrived. Although I do not think anyones's pleased with the abreviated swimming sessions as the water cools. :-)

Mid-week update

Birdee is ruling the roost as usual and showing no indication to spring into season, but we expect it any day now. We're looking forward to our trip to the beautiful Pacific northwest to visit Teak! :-)

Slipstream Stuff

Our weekend was blissfully uneventful, mid 80s and beautiful. Birdee, still not in season, is making the most of these last warm days of summer by spending as much time as possible in the swimming pool. :-)

Had a brief visit with our friends Heather and Jamie who are on their way to the US Eventing Championships in North Carolina. They have been on the road for 3 days, driving from Albuquerque with their horses Blarney & Tramp. We wish them the best of luck in this tough competition!

XRays!

Well the xrays went off without a hitch, no sedation necessary and we were out of there within an hour. The XRays look awesome, very clean. My Birdee is one tightly built little stinker. If she were a horse, I'd say we're shooting for Advanced. But since she's a dog, we'll have to shoot for MACH.

Thank you Wendi for turning me onto this wonderful [and bonus that he is local] orthopedic surgeon. The girl at the front desk just went on and on about Wendi's beautiful Aussies :-)
Go, Binger!

Happy Birthday, Sweet Girl

Birdee spent her birthday getting muddy in the yard and trying to taunt Mom into throwing the ball in the pool for her, despite the rain.

Count-down to Birdee's birthday!

1 day to Bird-day and she has not come in season yet! This is good news ... we hope she waits long enough to get OFA squared away.

Bird-day

Welcome to my blog. It seems like a cool thing to do, we'll just see how well I keep up with it. I think it will be quite handy when the puppies arrive.

Birdee's 2nd birthday is 2 short days away. We're scheduled with the doctor for OFA xrays on Thursday morning, first thing after her birthday.
